Tenants and sources

How the tenant and its sources scope every page in Curade, how to pick them, what an inactive tenant means and who looks after a tenant.

Every page in Curade reads one tenant, and some pages read only the sources you pick in it. Both sit in plain view: the tenant picker and the source picker at the top of every page. When a page looks wrong, those two are the first things to check.

Picking a tenant

The tenant picker at the top of every page lists only the tenants you hold a role in. Pick another one and every page follows: the dashboards, the analytics, the reports and CLEO.

When a tenant is inactive

A tenant and each of its sources is active or inactive. Curade collects data only while both are active. An inactive tenant or source keeps all its history, and switching it back to active resumes collection; deleting it removes the history too.

When a tenant is inactive, the tenant picker marks it, and the bell at the top right of the page says Data collection is paused and when its most recent data arrived. A report built from an inactive tenant covers nothing after that moment (Notifications).

Sources

A tenant collects its data from one or more sources, each a connection to your organisation's monitoring platform with its own address and access token. A tenant collects nothing until it has at least one source. A source's type is fixed once it is created, and to point a tenant at a different environment you add a new source rather than change an old one.

The source picker beside the tenant picker sets which of the tenant's sources a page reads, and Curade remembers your choice for each tenant in your browser. A page that always covers the whole tenant says so beside its title.

Who looks after a tenant

A tenant names its members, each with a tenant role, and marks some of them as responsible engineers: the people who look after it. The responsible engineers get an email whenever the tenant's data collection pauses or resumes. A tenant can also carry its own logo and its own AI model for CLEO (Manage tenants).
